“I will try to help them make sense of things that seem to matter….. we will try to get access to what feels concerning, maybe isn’t understood, carries a lot of feeling, emotion, conflict or uncertainty, or is calling us to understand.”

General

Welcome! I’m Trent, a qualified Creative Arts Therapist (AThR)

My experience to date has focused on providing one-on-one sessions for children, young people and adults, running group sessions, as well as working in the community facilitating workshops.

I place a strong emphasis on creating an environment that:

  • encourages creative self-expression,

  • nurtures personal development,

  • inspires individuality, and

  • promotes a sense of safety and comfort within the space.

My role as a therapist isn’t to give a client the answer to their questions (or a solution to any problems) but instead help them figure out what their own truth is.

What is Art Therapy?

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that extends beyond more traditional ‘talk therapy’ to focus on enhancing a client’s mental, emotional and psychosocial wellbeing.

Creative enquiry processes are incorporated into the therapeutic support with clients being encouraged to reflect on what they create, whilst maintaining a sense of curiosity to the feelings and emotions that arise.

Through exploring their felt response to their art making, clients can further enquire into personal beliefs and self-concepts, such as patterns of thinking & behaving, which may not otherwise be consciously known.

SERVICES

Adults

In session, a focus and emphasis is first placed on establishing a felt sense of safety and support for the client both within the physical environment, as well as their process of creative exploration.

Children & Teenagers

I believe in the integrity of young minds and their adaptive and developing nature, as well as their sense of curiosity and willingness to play.

NDIS Participants

I work with clients in a 1:1 capacity, as well as in groups, to support them working towards achieving their NDIS plan goals. Regardless of session type, I always incorporate a client-centric approach to working with participants, helping them place themselves at the centre of their truth-making.

Community Workshops

Community workshops are a great opportunity to experience what an art therapy session looks like in an informal setting, whilst providing an opportunity to meet like-minded people.
